General Worker - Finishing

The role is responsible for the final visual inspection, counting, and secure packaging of finished label rolls. This role ensures that every carton leaving the Skanem facility is accurately labeled, free of defects, and packed to prevent damage during transit to the customer.
Responsibilities
Final Quality Inspection:
• Ensure that all the labels are according to the specification mentioned in the work ticket.
• Conduct a final visual check of label rolls for common defects like flagging (labels peeling off) or incorrect winding direction.
• Ensure that the core size of the label rolls matches the customer’s application machinery
• Remove and record any defective labels or "waste" rolls that do not meet Skanem's quality benchmark.
Accurate Sorting & Counting:
• Verify that the number of labels per roll and the number of rolls per carton match the Job Docket/Invoice.
• Use weighing scales or digital counters to confirm quantities for high-volume orders.
Packing & Labelling:
• Carefully pack rolls into cartons using appropriate cushioning materials to prevent "bruising" or edge damage during transport.
• Apply outer carton labels accurately, ensuring the Batch Number, Date of Manufacture, and Quantity are clearly visible.
• Securely tape and palletize boxes according to weight distribution standards.
Safety & Hygiene Compliance:
• Maintain a clean and organized packing station according to 5S principles.
• Follow all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements, including hairnets or gloves where food-grade labels are handled.
Person Specifications
Academic Qualifications
• Diploma in Warehouse/Stores Management.
Experience
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or busy warehouse environment (printing/packaging industry experience is a major plus).
Skills and Attributes
Technical Skills:
• Numerical Accuracy: Ability to count large quantities quickly and accurately.
• Attention to detail: Sharp eyesight to spot small print errors or colour shifts.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to lift boxes (up to 20kg) and remain standing for the duration of the shift.
Soft Skills:
• Speed & Efficiency - Ability to keep up with high-speed finishing machines without causing bottlenecks.
• Integrity - Honest reporting of waste or damaged goods to ensure client satisfaction.
• Teamwork - Coordinating effectively with Finishing Operators.
• Flexibility - Willingness to work in shifts (day/night) to meet urgent deadlines.
Strong preferences will be given to candidates with the requisite qualifications, skills and experience.
