Security Risk Controller

We want you!

The Security Risk Controller is responsible for the 24/7 operation of the Skanem Security Control Centre (SCC). The role coordinates real-time security and emergency response, monitors all CCTV, access control and alarm systems, manages the physical key register, and ensures that every shift is documented, handed over and governed in accordance with Skanem security procedures. The role is the operational nerve centre of the Security Department — everything that happens on site passes through the Control Room.

Responsibilities

Control Room Operations:

• Operate the Security Control Centre on assigned 12-hour shift (0630–1830 or 1830–0630).

• Maintain continuous CCTV monitoring across all zones — production floor, gates, perimeter, dispatch, and high-security areas.

• Monitor fire alarm panels, intruder alarms, vehicle movement sensors and duress buttons in real time.

• Ensure all surveillance equipment is operational at shift start and report any faults immediately to the Security Manager.

• Maintain a tidy, organised Control Room environment at all times.

Incident Logging & Escalation:

• Log all incidents immediately upon receipt in the Occurrence Book (OB) — no incident shall remain unlogged.

• Classify, prioritise and escalate incidents in accordance with the Incident Severity Matrix (Critical / High / Medium / Low).

• Dispatch response teams and brief the Security Manager in real time for all Critical and High-priority incidents.

• Compile and submit end-of-shift CCTV monitoring reports.

• Raise formal incident reports and file in the monthly incident file.

• Support investigations by preserving and documenting CCTV footage and access logs upon instruction from the Security Manager.

Shift Handover & Governance:

• Report for duty at least 15 minutes before shift commencement.

• Conduct a structured joint handover/takeover with the outgoing Controller, sign the OB to confirm full awareness of outstanding matters.

• Verify operational readiness of all systems: CCTV, alarms, access control, electric fence, radios, and PA system.

• Review handover notes on the whiteboard and notice boards; complete all outstanding follow-up items.

• No Controller may leave their post without express clearance from the Security Manager.

Access Control & Visitor Management:

• Operate as Access System Administrator Level 1 — run access reports, remote door/gate access, mute alarms, disable access cards and biometrics.

• Book visitors and contractors onto site via the Visitor Management System (VMS).

• Process new staff access profiles upon receipt of approved Access Control Management Form from the Security Manager.

• Disable access immediately upon receipt of leaver notification from HR; escalate any non-compliance to the Security Manager.

• Issue, track and retrieve visitor passes; maintain the visitor log with full accuracy.

• In the event of evacuation, print and collate the site occupant list for roll call.

Key Management:

• Maintain the Key Cabinet within the Security Control Centre — locked at all times except during authorised issuance or return.

• Issue and receive physical keys strictly in accordance with the Key Movement Register; verify identity before every issuance.

• Investigate and escalate any lost, broken or unreturned keys immediately to the Security Manager.

• Ensure all emergency master keys remain sealed and secured; record any use immediately.

• Complete weekly key audits and present findings to the Security Manager.

Communication & Radio Management:

• Maintain clear, professional radio communication using phonetic alphabet and 24-hour clock.

• Check VHF radios (main and standby) at the start of every shift; log faults.

• Coordinate security escorts for Skanem executives and monitor local journey management.

• Answer all Control Room calls professionally; take and relay accurate messages without delay.

• Monitor the national security situation and update the Security Manager as required.
